Fishing this section offers a unique feel, as you drift down the river you’ll notice rugged tree filled banks and deep pools in the upper section, merging into the smooth terrain of Alberta’s grassy foothills. The scenery is spectacular with frequent wildlife sightings throughout the day. It is common to see eagles, deer, beavers, foxes, waterfowl and even the occasional moose and bear. Although this section is located only 30 minutes from Calgary it will feel like you are fishing a remote location.
This section of river is difficult to access for many people wishing to fish this stretch. As a result, the fish do not feel the pressure from fishers like the more popular Low Bow and City sections. It is not unusual to have the river and fish to yourself for the float. Bent on the Bow can access these cold clear waters easily. The river in this section is characterized by deep pools and buckets throughout with multiple deflections, runs and riffles. The numbers of fish in the area are high with multiple species regularly brought to the boat. It would not be unusual to catch Brown Trout, Rainbow trout, Cutthroat trout all in the same trip with a chance to catch Brook trout, Lake trout, Bull trout and Hybrid Cut Bow trout which are landed every season on this section.
